For those who need to permanently erase data from hard drive or tapes, but don’t need a high-volume degausser, the HD-2 offers the perfect solution. The compact HD-2 is ideal in office settings for erasing laptop, desktop, and network high-coercivity (magnetic) drives up to 1.5 inches high, as well as the full range of tape cartridge media—with no adapters needed. It’s also very easy to use and only takes 60 seconds to eliminate data for good.
Enables you to meet government and industry standards that require complete erasure of sensitive information stored on magnetic media prior to disposal.
Independently certified to meet ANSI and CE safety and compatibility standards worldwide.
Built-in safeguards check the stored power and display the field strength during each erase cycle, ensuring complete erasure every time.
Allows you to add our optional SCAN-2 scanner and software package to scan disk serial numbers and create a media destruction report during the degaussing process.
Ruggedly constructed with proven solid-state technology, the HD-2 provides complete erasure of virtually all high-coercivity hard drives and tapes.
Easy to use
Simply place the hard drive or tape in the drawer. Closing the drawer automatically starts the degaussing operation. In 60 seconds, the display lets you know the media is fully erased.
Because erasure by degaussing requires no software or physical connection to the hard drive, such as a cable, the HD-2 can erase any magnetic media, regardless of operating system or interface, even if the media has failed or is damaged.
Lightweight (34 lbs.) and small enough to fit on a desk, the HD-2 plugs into standard wall outlets. Its quiet operation and continuous-duty rating (no cooling required) make it perfect for office environments.
Takes just a minute to achieve complete and permanent erasure.
At 34 pounds, the HD-2 is easy to move from room to room. The optional wheeled transport case allows you to take the HD-2 to the media for greater data security.
Permanent Erasure Means Data Is Gone Forever
Because the HD-2 generates a high-powered magnetic field ensuring complete erasure. Magnetic erasure also means there’s no software to buy, update, or upgrade. And the HD-2 technology used to erase magnetic hard drives and tape media will never become obsolete due to software or driver modifications.
Degauss vs. Overwrite
The HD-2 uses our proven solid-state technology to generate a high-powered erasure field that’s far superior to the fields produced by the read/write heads in hard drives and tape drives. Unlike overwriting, the HD-2 generates an erase field that encompasses the entire hard drive or tape, leaving no area unchanged. The HD-2 requires no physical connection, such as a cable, enabling it to erase data on working and nonworking hard drives. Degaussing technology also makes the HD-2 software independent, allowing you to completely and permanently erase any magnetic hard drive or tape, regardless of the operating system or interface.
Secure and Compliant
The HD-2 will help you meet government and industry standards requiring complete erasure of sensitive data prior to disposal, including:
California Senate Bill 1386
DOD (Emergency Destruction and up to Secret Classification)
GLBA (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act)
HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act)
NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Guidelines for Media Sanitization
NIST SP 800-36
NIST SP 800-88r1
PCI DSS 3.2 (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard)
PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act)
The HD-2 is independently tested and certified to meet CE and ANSI safety and compatibility standards worldwide.
HD-2 Affordable Security— Optional Package and Accessories
Combine the HD-2 Degausser with a PD-4 Hard Drive Destroyer or PD-5 Hard Drive & Solid State Memory Destroyer and our custom-configured SW-2 Table with media bins. The SW-2 Table features a locked storage compartment for securely storing media awaiting erasure. Learn More
Color-coded media bins make it easy to stage media for destruction and deposit media after degaussing is complete. The red bin is clearly labeled “Media to be Degaussed,” the yellow bin is labeled “Degaussed Media,” and the large blue container holds destroyed media ready for recycling. Learn More
